need self-discovery, duality, the tension between the spiritual and the earthly. The kind of book that feels like a journey inward.
I've read the obvious ones (Siddhartha, Steppenwolf, Demian). I'm looking for authors who work in that same space, whether they're contemporaries of his or more recent. Philosophical but not dry. Mystical but not new-age nonsense.
What novels have given you that Hesse feeling? The ones that made you sit with yourself a little longer after finishing.
