I’m interested in the colonial period of North America prior to or around the time of the forming of the current countries (especially the land that became Canada), and have a few history books about this period. I often like to pair my non fiction with fiction covering similar topics.
Some of my favorite historical fiction is stuff like Sharon Kay Penman and Colleen McCullough, where the large movers of history are dramatizer and not made to feel too “modern”. I also don’t mind stuff like Ken Follett that’s maybe a bit more page turner like and focused on invented characters, as long as the people feel they are of the era.
I like multiple viewpoints, and am interested in Indigenous views, European views, ”first generation” views, etc…
