I love books about people and their adventures and personal growth etc, and I read across many genres (though I tend to default to sci-fi, fantasy and magical realism).
The only problem is that I'm just so tired of every book regardless of genre centring romantic love as a core plot driver. I have read so many books particularly about strong interesting women with things going on in their lives that bring them joy and hope and sorrow (including their platonic loves) and then the authors somehow can't concieve of ending the book on a high note without that note being "and then she met the man of her dreams and they lived happily ever after".
I am at risk of this post becoming a vent/rant so I'll stop there and hope you all get the point.
