Growing up I always loved books like Ramona by Beverly Cleary, the Alice series by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, Eleven by Lauren Myracle, etc – books where it just follows the girl's life year-by-year and feels super relatable.

Are there any series at all like this but for adults? Preferably women in their twenties? It's as though once we reach adulthood, the only "realistic" fiction books center on something more niche than simply living life, or have to focus on romance.

I've tried Elena Ferrante and couldn't get into it. I'd be so grateful for any recommendations!!

    1. I feel like Bridget jones and shopaholic fit this bill for me, but if you’re looking for less rom-com, perhaps books like Really Good, Actually or I Hope This Finds You Well could work. I loathed my brilliant friend

    2. There might be a little too much “drama” to qualify, but Same As it Ever Was by Claire Lombardo follows a woman in her late 50s but you get snapshots of her life from her 20s on as the story unfolds. I put drama in quotes because it’s really not a wild tale. Pretty normal stuff. A reluctant mom, the banality of adult life, struggling to find meaning and make friends. I really liked it.
