Hello! Every Spring I put half of my annual bonus in savings and the other half towards a solo hiking or roadtrip and always try to find the perfect audiobook for the journey. Here are some of the past ones…
Costa Rica: Jurassic Park
Blue Ridge Mountains: The Hobbit
Roadtrip across the country: On the Road
Yellowstone: Greenlights (not really sure why)
I am in year 5 now and am doing an 11 day roadtrip through Utah stopping at 5 national parks. It will be high deserts mostly so kind of like wooded mountainous old west deserts. Does anybody have any audiobook suggestions for the trip?

Seems like a great time for Lord of the Rings!
Desert Solitaire by Edward Abbey
127 hrs. Ha
Ok I’ll say it: dungeon crawler Carl. Best narration around, engaging story that absolutely will not bore you. And it’s hilarious.
Since you have done the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings is right there.
Also Imperial Radch series by Ann Leckie, Posiedon’s children by Alastair Reynolds (let the vastness of this universe sweep you away), Nevermoor series by Jessica Townsend, Witch series by Terry Pratchett.
World War Z – Full Cast version. For non-fiction, it’s hard to not go with David Sedaris.
