    Hi!

I've been looking for a book club to join, but am having a hard time finding one. I was talking to my therapist and she asked "would you ever start one?". So here I am, thinking of starting an in-person book club. it's very much not something I would normally do, which is why I want to do it. I've been thinking of some potential themes themes, as I feel like there usually is one and that it helps narrow down from the oceans of books out there. I'm just wanting to run of these by strangers on reddit to see if any of them seem interesting, or if anyone has other ideas. Several of these are inspired by my personal reading goals and/or interests. I'm not sure it matters, but I'm 45F – I don't have age or gender preference for people who might join.

    – Short stories/short story collections

    – Classics by women (I'm including modern classics in here as well)

    – Mid-century fiction

    – Horror (I haven't taken to a lot of genre fiction, but I have so far enjoyed some psychological and domestic horror)

    – Fiction translated from other languages

    – Immigrant stories (I lean toward fiction, but maybe could consider memoir here as well)

    – BIPOC literature

    – Coming of age

One of my things (which is a quirk of mine) is that I tend not to read new releases. I only read physical, paperback books, and new releases are by and large hardcover. I wait for something to be issued in paperback before I read it.

I have other interests, but I don't know that they would make for the best book club choices.

Open to feedback and ideas. Thank you!
