Compilation of historical short stories?

I drive a lot, following my GPS a lot, losing attention to audiobooks and zoning out or on calls frequently enough. I’m really enjoining Band of Brothers because while I don’t need specifically a war story, I can tune in and out and it’s just as easy to follow, being more or less journal entries without a twisty plot in the background. I’m lost with something that needs too much attention. Any genre. Suggestions?
