Books with emotionally detached, introspective protagonists?

I’m specifically looking for novels with a protagonist very similar to George Lass from Dead Like Me in personality and mindset.

Not just introverted — but emotionally detached and apathetic. Someone deeply introspective who mostly lives inside their own head, with a strong internal monologue.

Sarcastic, cynical, often critical of social hypocrisy. More of an observer than a participant. Someone who avoids close connections and deliberately keeps expectations low to avoid disappointment.

I care much more about the character’s inner life and psychological voice than about plot. I’m not looking for action-driven stories — I want something that really captures that detached, existential vibe.
