Can be any genre but I’m looking for something that feels relatable in an authentic way please (not a romanticised depiction of depression). Ideally there would be some sort of redemption arc or sense that there might be some light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you.

If you’re OK with horror-comedy, Chuck Tingle’s “Lucky Day” is about a woman who survives a ridiculous horror-movie-style disaster, and has a breakdown about it. The book’s as much about her coping with her overwhelming apathy as it is about investigating suspicious disasters.
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, by Gail Honeyman
The October Daye series by Seanan Mcguire starts with the protagonist very depressed but that changes as the series progresses.
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
Kind of a wild card, but Big Swiss might be worth checking out. Not necessarily a redemptive ending, but it’s entertaining and a page-turner.
