I somewhat recently read Captive Prince, by C. S. Pacat, and I really enjoyed it. I was a bit disappointed that the…uh…rapier bits weren't as pronounced as I thought they were going to be, though. I'd love to have some suggestions for what to read next!
I've laid out kind of what I'm looking for below. I'm pretty open as far as suggestions go, so if it doesn't check literally every box, I'm still interested in hearing your recommendation!
Must-haves:
- I need it to have a good story. Explicit scenes are must, but I don't want plot, character development, and worldbuilding to be shallow or neglected in favor of serving up literally just sex.
- It needs to be male-on-male. It's okay if there are hetero or lesbian scenes in the book, but it needs to be predominantly men.
- No homophobia in the story, please. Homophobia is depressing and my reading is an escape from depressing realities about the world. (There is some wiggle room on this if it plays directly into non-con scenes).
- It doesn't have to be an English-language publication. I can read recommendations published in the following languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Norwegian, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese.
Things I like (non-sexual):
- Political intrigue
- Science fiction, fantasy, alt-history, or historical fiction settings
- Well-developed worldbuilding
- Romance
Things I'm hoping for (sexual):
- Rape or rape-adjacent scenes. There's some wiggle-room on this—if you have a book you think I'd like that is BDSM-centered (so like, not literally rape rape), that's fine, too. But I'm particularly interested in the non-con stuff.
- Domination and power imbalance. Loved what I saw of that in Captive Prince. More, please!
- Monsterfucker/Furry stuff is okay! I'm vaguely interested in exploring this genre a bit, so feel free to recommend. Definitely not a must-have, though.
