I'm looking for a book that analyses or describes what the world wars were like from a civilians point of view. Several topics interest me.
- Prior to the wars – the political and economical environment at the time and the different social problems countries were facing. Describing if there were any signs, big or small leading up to world wars or large events.
- The types of changes that occurred during the war – key events that disrupted the world, how it looked like, and if the problems persisted or were solved. Possibly why it occurred and how did people and markets react to them? What was first to go, what rose in popularity, job stability ect. I want multiple perspectives from different countries both close to and far away from the wars.
- The effects after war. Eg. what to expect after war. Lasting effects, how it shaped the world it is today – and what lessons / details we can learn from it today, and any hot tips to be inferred.
I'm open to non-fiction, diaries and biographies! Something with as much detail and data as the CIA world factbook would be awesome. I just thought it would be interesting to see if there were any parallels between the past and present in regards to the current state of the world – and whether there are any patterns , reasoning and impending signs of war in general. Thank you!!!
