Im looking for modern literary fiction recommendations!
I feel like a lot of the books I pick up off the shelf are written with some main aspect meant to like, shock or upset the reader rather than really contribute to the narrative. (especially things like abuse, very unhealthy relationships, death/suicide)
I love the character study and pacing of litfic, not looking for something super fluffy or plot driven, just something that still explores the human experience without seeming to be trying to completely devastate the reader.
Looking for well written prose, interesting character(s), and very reflective themes
