No Happy Endings

Hi! Does anyone have any book recommendations similar to Alchemised? Ive been reading to many happy ending books and would really like a book thats going to make me sob haha

Something well written, romance is not obligatory, Female main character and preferably written by a woman but not obligatory.

I really enjoyed how alchemised shows you both sides of the conflict, and how both are awful but you can understand their plight. I also liked the fact that the problems the main characters faced werent immediately fixed and you could feel the long term effects of what happened to them.

Ive already read the SJM, fourth wing, quicksilver style books, and they all have happy enough endings, im looking for genuinely gut wrenching. No specific genre in mind (really, I love reading Orson Scott Card, Stephen King, Sarah J Maas, Paulo Coehlo, Gary Paulson… so any genre/style goes)
