Hi! I’m looking for a cozy mystery suggestion for our Library’s 50 Books in 2026 challenge. Cozy Mystery is definitely not my genre, so this one is a struggle. I normally like dystopian novels, literary fiction, westerns, feminist themes, fantasy, and can dabble in some romantasy when I need a “guilty pleasure” read. I listen to a TON of nonfiction. Books that I’ve read recently that I’ve loved:
– the Southern Reach Series
– Demon Copperhead
– Piranesi
– Our Share of Night
– Bowling Alone
– The Vaster Wilds
– We Were the Universe
– Big Swiss
– Careless People
– In the Garden of the Beast
Again, cozy mystery is not my go-to, so give me your best suggestions given what little I’ve given you to work with. Thanks!

Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers and Vera Wong’s Guide to Snooping (on a Dead Man) by Jesse Q. Sutanto
I would call The Hearth Witch’s Guide to Magic and Murder by Kiri Callaghan a cozy mystery. It’s also fantasy. Think Sherlock Holmes, set in modern times, with a half fae who just got released early from a 500 year sentence because the fae court needs her to solve a murder.
The No 1 Ladies Detective Agency, Alexander McCall Smith.
