I spent the better part of my teenage years and early adulthood avoiding difficult emotions because of a complex childhood and mental illness. Now I'm turning my life around.
I've also realized that my emotional and social development have been stunted. I'm putting myself in the real world as much as possible, but I'm afraid of making big mistakes with people and situations that I care about deeply and want to sustain.
Might sound strange, but what are stories of good lives well lived, healthy relationships, and ways of navigating difficult emotions? I don't really have this training from my family or childhood. Stuff like that. Thank you!!

Not sure if this is exactly what you’re looking for, but Psalm for the Wild Built (and its sequel) by Becky Chambers is a sci-fi novella about a monk going through a midlife crisis and a sentient robot trying to figure out “what humanity needs”. The relationships between all the characters are healthy/well-intentioned (albeit imperfect) and it has really gentle messaging about our impact on the world, about befriending people who are not like you, and about finding happiness within yourself.
Good luck on your healing journey!
