Unfortunately, most of the romance-heavy books I read end sadly, but here are my suggestions that fit your criteria:
In Memoriam by Alice Winn is a beautiful (yet sad because war) historical romance.
Also The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, which is a mix of fantasy & historical romance, was 5/5 stars for me. Great prose, characters, and slow burn!
