Open to any genre – historical fiction and SFF are my favourite, but really any will do, including nonfiction. Has to be uplifting – I don't want some grimdark nonsense about how everything is pointless etc.
I enjoy this theme in novels, and I'd like to read something else with this theme. Examples that I've read include The Way of Kings, How to Rule an Empire and Get Away with It, and The Pilars of the Earth.
