I typically gravitate to books that draw me in and break my heart (think Half of a Yellow Sun, Panchinko, A Thousand Splendid Suns, etc). I am looking for books to read in between some of these heavier reads but it’s hard for me to go from a beautifully profound or deep novel to a throw away beach read (not that they don’t have their place!). Looking for suggestions for light, even fun, reads that are still thoughtful and immersive. Thank you!

The Night Circus is fun, light, and easy to read. I think that while it’s not profound, the prose is extremely immersive and tactile and it has enough substance to keep someone who prefers a deeper read immersed. It’s the escape a lot of fantasy romance wishes it was.
