Lately I’ve taken an interest in anthropology. I’ve been watching all kinds of videos on YouTube about how past societies understood the world and been utterly fascinated with it (shoutout Hochelaga). I haven’t finished a book since high school and I’ve been trying and failing to be a better reader, but I think if I get a good book rec for something related to this new interest I can reach that goal. I look forward to hearing what you’ve got for me!

I’m working my way through *1491* now. It can be slow at times, but there’s a lot of interesting information to unpack. No need to read it straight through, one can pick and choose.

I’d also recommend anything by Mary Beard, maybe starting with *SPQR: A History of Ancient Rome*. I found her a great writer and if the books are dragging, look for her on TV! Funny, humane, empathetic to the way past peoples lived their lives.
