What are great fictions to read after Battlecry of Freedom?
I read Empire of the Summer Moon before reading Lonesome Dove. To me, it was a perfect introduction into the world of Lonesome Dove. It was great knowing what the old hat creek outfit came from from their old rangering days of fighting the Comanches. Knowing that the time period of LD was around the end of Comanche dominance and some of the history of the areas they were traveling through made me appreciate everything more. Understanding the setting somewhat made reading a masterpiece so much better.
I would love a great companion like these two books with the Civil War.
