Fantasy novels are some of my favorite comfort food. I mean, I read all 14 books of The Wheel of Time series for "the love of the game"

So how come it took me so long to hear about Farseer Trilogy. I just finished the trilogy and immediately want to plunge into the rest of Robin Hobb's stories.

The highs of this series have been up there with La Guins's Earthsea and even greats like A Storm of Swords.

So why isn't Robin Hobb/Farseer Trilogy talked about more on these threads?

As someone’s who’s just trying to dig past the mainstream fantasy recommendations, this is one of the most highly recommended I’ve run across.

    2. I have always bounced off them due to the first book, and there are probably a significant amount of other people with the same issue. In essence, they are well constructed and written, but I have a hard time connecting with the main character. For whatever reason, I remember *really* disliking him whenever I tried to read it.

I assume, and probably assume correctly, that he undergoes a lot of character development and would become a lot more tolerable for me later, but it is why I kept losing interest in the books.

I will have to try again at some point, but at the end of the day it might just not be a series for me.

That said: it is talked about a lot. It is always in lists of recommendations. But it is also sort of old news (as in most people know about it already) and does not have any significant extra media presence like TV shows or movies to prop it up in pop culture.

I feel like her stuff is talked about a lot. There are four trilogies and a tetralogy in the world she’s created. It’s very solid.
