Hello all, I'm interested in fiction & nonfiction suggestions! I enjoy a lot of historical fiction and I've been trying to read more nonfiction.
I apologize if it's insensitive, but I think it would be an interesting read to find something that dabbles in horror but within the reality of wars. Thank you!

It’s definitely horrific but not exactly horror. But if you are looking for something more on the gore side then I’d recommend the Poppy War Trilogy but make sure to look at the trigger warnings first. That definitely skews more fantasy though but it pulls a lot from history. Sorry I don’t have anything that fits a bit better!
Hiroshima (John Hersey), or Johnny Got His Gun (Dalton Trumbo)
The Things They Carried by OBrian will stick with you.
Machete Season. The Forgotten Highlander. Give Me Tomorrow. Blood Red Snow. With The Old Breed. What it is like to go to war.
If you narrow down what kind of war context, or where in the world you can have so much more specific recommendations. Horrors of war is way too broad.
