I am writing a TTRPG campaign set in ancient Greece and I'd like to learn as much as I can. I already know a decent amount of information, but my sources are mostly Wikipedia and some other online websites. I'd like to have more academic or professional books.
By non-sanitized I mean that I don't want them to hide aspects that are undesirable, such as various gods/goddesses being rapists, the incest, etc. I want them to talk about it as much as anything else. And by in-depth I mean that I want the myth stories but also analysis on them and the context. I do not want anything about the Roman mythology or Roman retellings, so I'm not particularly interested in anything to do with Ovid.
I'd also welcome recommendations about academic books on life in IRL ancient Greece. Even if they're about niche aspects of them, whatever it is, I just wanna know more! As long as they're well researched and trustworthy, give it to me
PS: this does mean I'm not interested in books that retell the myths in their own way or use the myths to tell their own story. I also like those but I'd like to see more about how they originally were, as much as they varied
