Philip Pullman’s last book, The Rose Field is a disaster. It seems that the author forgot constantly what he had written before and finally he had a deadline when he just stopped writing. Terrible editing, too.

I think it’s too harsh to say the books are poorly written (though the dialogue can definitely be), but I find Ann Patchett’s stories and characters boring. That includes Bel Canto.
I don’t mind a slow read and I love character-driven books, but even then I find her work dull.

Never lie (haven’t felt like reading any other book by McFadden after this one. I grew up reading Sidney Sheldon / Christie and this is trash compared to the standards I’m used to)
