When I can really get invested in a book, reading is one of my favorite things to do. I have a hard time getting really into books, but I also have this bad habit of feeling the need to see a book through to the end if I start it and I'm only the slightest bit interested in it. Anyways, I'm trying to drop that habit so I can get my reading numbers up. I can probably count on my hands books that have held my attention throughout without hitting a wall resulting in me taking forever to finish it.
My favorite books of all time are probably The Secret History by Donna Tartt, Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami, and The Catcher in the Rye. I love fiction for the most part so I guess there aren't really any specific genres I prefer or am against, but I like something that keeps things happening and just keeps moving (be that actual action or just dialogue/drama). Like I love Stephen King, but most of his books (imo) are much longer than they need to be and while are great when they're great, I take forever to get through them. I love heavier, dark/depressing subjects and complex or unhinged characters as long as it's not mindless doom and gloom (looking at you A Little Life) and actually has some sort of underlying hopefulness. I also love anything that's comedic/satirical in any way. Bonus points for anything that will emotionally move me or affect me.
