Hi all- I’m really interested in reading about any books that involve early humans battling, surviving against and being hunted by prehistoric predators.
I have read and watched Monsters We Met and am currently rewatching videos like 7 predators that are humans by Goji Center. I have also read and then stupidly gave away Man the Hunted which I may end up buying again. (The kindle price is ridiculously expensive compared to secondhand physical copies)
Most books I’ve seen focus mainly on the rise of humans and only include the predators as a byproduct. Granted they do discuss how being preyed on shaped our evolution and how we ended up working together for mutual benefit to avoid being preyed on or being outcompeted.
The ideal book would be something on the lines of each time period in human evolution, describing the human species, the environment they lived in and the predators that preyed on them, and then would chronologically progress to modern day or near modern times after the ice age receded (since we technically are still in one)
Any and all recommendations would be appreciated! Bit of a grim topic but I’m a prehistoric super fan who wants a bit of adventure and escapism in something that no doubt all our ancestors went through.
