Please suggest me an actually good historical drama (not super romance focused)

I’v heard that Anna lister’s diaries are good, and even that she was a lesbian. (Intresting)

Any suggestions for anything i might like that isn’t super romance focused and actually intresting, not hard to read and or understand?
