There is a prophecy that proclaims a chosen one, but they are the villain of the story. The POV(s) of the book are from those affected by them, the ones trying to stop them. It paints the chosen one as this mythic force that would end the world. Any books like that?

    1. If you’re OK with a really dark, brutal, epic fantasy series, check out The Second Apocalypse by R. Scott Bakker, starting with The Darkness That Comes Before. Who is a villain and who isn’t? It may all depend on where you stand. Bleak, philosophical, fucked up, and compelling. The first trilogy, The Prince of Nothing, follows a fantasy Holy War, modeled after the real life First Crusade. The second series, The Aspect Emperor, heads darker and deeper into the ancient lore, history, religion, and metaphysics of this unforgiving world. Epic mythology, powerful magics, rich world building.
