Suggest me a well-written historical fiction book and explain why you like it. Something historically accurate or at least not wildly incorrect. Bonus points if it includes characters who were or are real people, but that’s not strictly necessary. If you can, suggest a non-fiction book on the same topic/era/person that would be a good companion read.

Regeneration by Pat Barker was recommended to me for its historical fidelity and psychological realism and a couple of reviews I read also say something along those lines

    2. The Grapes of Wrath; Steinbeck at his best, writing about a topic he was knowledgeable and passionate about. Also, Centennial by James Michener; a really well-researched and informative historical fiction.

The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan

    3. I read *Name of the Rose* (Umberto Eco) and *Medieval Philosophy: A Very Short Introduction* at the same time. Helpful to get a bit more background on medieval monks and their views on Plato/Aristotle.

The Agony and the Ecstasy. Written as a biographical work on Michelangelo, based on his correspodense that the author had translated into English.so you can also read the letters separately/in parallel.
