as the weather is getting slightly warmer, i'm getting in the mood to read a book that features a lot of atmospheric, summery/spring scenes, surrounded by greenery. i'll list a few books that i think fall into this category as examples:
- atonement (ian mcewan)
- anne of green gables (l. m. montgomery)
- rebecca (daphne du maurier)
- brideshead revisited (evelyn waugh)
- the virgin suicides (jeffrey eugenides)
please give me recommendations so i can add to my list! i don't read contemporary books as much but i'm open to all recommendations, as long as they have prosaic descriptions of green, summery scenery!
p.s. poetry is good too! i've been quite fond of 'summer' by john clare and 'a winding sheet for summer' by peter gizzi, and would love to read more poems that are similar 🙂

Thomas Hardy, anything by him, really. *Far from the Madding Crowd* is my favorite. Mayor of Casterbridge is underrated. Such beautiful, pastoral scenes.
LM Montgomery has a book called *The. Blue Castle* which is just breathtaking as far as descriptions go, and it’s a different setting to the Anne books.
