Hi all-
I’m looking for any dinosaur themed apocalypse books that are actually good.
Primordial Earth, Jurassic Dead and the other book series Dinosaur Apocalypse just do not tick those boxes for me, despite the amount of books done in those series.
I’ve heard the Footprints of Thunder series might be good. I also have the first Out of the Earth book as well. Some of Michael Cole’s works – if you can forgive the absence of proof reading – are decent reads.
I might also check out Subterrestrial after I finish Burial Ground- which both involve expeditions rather than apocalypses with evolved dinosaurs that survived to modern day time.
Age of Monsters is also decent, but I’m pretty fussy about protagonists. Primordial Earth has a whiny teen protagonist, Age of Monsters had a frustratingly sexist marine character, and Jurassic Dead is apparently what you would find on the syfy channel due to how goofy and also inconsistent it was with the plot and its characters – (one guy has a daughter in one book, and then she’s not even born yet in the next book according to one review)
Any other suggestions? Super niche topic I know. If it was good, everyone would talk about it in the same sentence as Jurassic Park. Basically I’m looking for something that everyone thought Jurassic World Dominion was going to be like before it came out.
Currently watching a playthrough of Quiet Place the Road Ahead. Huge fan of alien isolation as well if that helps. Eagerly awaiting Jurassic World Survival and a Dino crisis reboot.
