I’m approaching the end of my English Literature degree with the realization that I don’t really read anymore. It has been a long time since I’ve read a book outside of my studies, and I don’t really have much knowledge of literature outside of classic lit and modern biography. Since I’ve been in university, reading has become homework, and in my free time I’ve been much more inclined to watch films. I’m trying to get back into reading for my own enjoyment, and would love some suggestions.

I really enjoy character-centric narratives, and stories with rich interpersonal drama. I have a fairly diverse taste in genre, but avoid YA, high fantasy, and modern romance. Suggestions would be appreciated, thank you!

Honestly my first thought are books that had film adaptations. Fight Club by Chuck P. is a wonderful read, super punchy and huge on the interpersonal drama and issues like the film. It got me back after a reading slump since its not too long, well-written, and familiar.
