I'd like for said suspicions to be easily understood as justifiable,
e.g. Bob died mysteriously last week and was found without his special designer glasses. Today, my wife/best friend/brother's drain was clogged, and I found a broken pair of glasses in the drain pipe that looks exactly the same as Bob's.
Or:
Almost everyone who touches the eldritch artifact starts slowly going insane, until one day they snap and turn into mass murderers. My roommate Alice touched the thing. Psych Eval department cleared her anyway.
Alice has always been a bit of a rule breaker, but at least she used to tell me why she did the things she did. Now she's violating more and more work health and safety regulations, and refusing to answer questions about her motivations.
And NOT:
"everyone else I go to school with is a bully, so this classmate who only ever treats me nicely and never does anything weird must just be another bully waiting to pounce".
Also, if possible, if whoever is under suspicion is innocent, I'd like for them to not just be a passive victim like Desdemona in Othello.
