I'm curious if there are any adult or new adult books out there following the enemies-to-lovers trope in a sci-fi/fantasy setting, where they are real enemies and try to kill each other but they (or one of them) stops themselves from doing so for some plausible reason.
I don't want an arrogant MMC, or silly banter. I'd rather have a serious and intense MMC who, slowly, surprisingly, feels his heart being conquered by a mature and sexy FMC until they can't really be enemies anymore and none of them expected it (and the plot makes it truly believable).
One great example was the story of "A Song of Chaos" by Lotus O'Hara. (Highly recommend it!) Initially published on Galatea and now removed as the author is getting prepared to publish it as an Amazon book (can't wait!). More sci-fi romance, but there are fantasy elements in it for sure.
This was the only story I ever read that had what I wanted: badass MMC and FMC without the arrogance. More of a self-trusting attitude towards their real skills and a real enemy setting, until forced proximity brings them together. The plot is totally plausible AND there is some great spice at the end.
Looking for more like this 🙂 I just can't stand the silly senseless banter/arrogant chitchat I see in most books. I know a lot of people love this, but I'm French, guys 😂🇫🇷
I need a much more serious talk between the two MC with a very tense enemy vibe at first 🙏🙏🙏😊😊😊
