My grandfather and I go on alot of car rides together. Because of his medical situation hes very forgetful and when heading out preferable a person hast to be with him, which is often more than not me. I do not mind, as I enjoy the quality time together.
But alas, he said my books were depressing…
I recently got into reading this year and have been enjoying it so far.
We were listening to Atomic Habits when he asked if we could change it as it was depressing. And.. yeah. The examples the book gives is mostly people failing. Then go into detail on why they failed. ( And I think an example hit to close to home )
So I put on the happiest book I had. What you are looking for is in the library, which while cozy, the majority of it is people being depressed that they are failing in life. We were literally on the part where the guy was having a essential crisis that he'll never be able to quit his job to start his passion.
I had listed the books in my wish list. It only got worse and I wasn't beating the allegations…
Here are a few:
1984 ( Re-reading This )
Animal Farm
The Metamorphosis ( Re-reading This )
Butter
The other books I have are more technical pre-say:
The Psychology of Money
Friends that Invest ( Previously Girls that Invest )
The Zoologist's Guide to the Galaxy: What Animals on Earth Reveal About Aliens–and Ourselves
48 Laws of Power
Im not trying too pick depressing; Im picking books that sound interesting. I literally watched a video on banned books and thats why I picked Animal Farm and 48 Laws of Power (╥﹏╥). If you tell me not to read something im only going to want to read it more. Honestly might read every book from that video.
The inly books I can think of thats mostly happy is a cheesy romance novel. Which I honestly wouldn't mind but I know my grandfather wouldn't enjoy that.
Just to be clear, my grandfather is NOT forcing me to change my books. We both like to drive my car and he would never force me to change something if I didn't want to. And we were actually laughing about it all the way home.
I want to do this because I love my grandpa and are time together. I promised him next time we drive I'll find a book he'd enjoy; even if he doesn't remember ( ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ ).
Thanks in Advance!
Edit: I just want to emphasize I do not care he said my books were depressing. We were joking and having fun. Again, I honestly don't care he said my books were depressing.
