I just finished the Nightingale. What a great story. Very well written and very emotional.
I don't know if I can take another read that is that emotional right now so I probably need something else.
Before this book I read Kill for me Kill for you, A Dirty Job, and The Book Thief.
Quite a few of the great reads I've had this year come from recommendations so I am open to suggestions

After The Nightingale you definitely need a breather, that book takes something out of you.
since you liked A Dirty Job, Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow might be a good middle ground – not heavy but not nothing either, really absorbing story about two friends making video games across decades. the kind of book you just fall into.
also been reading The Tide Brings Everything Back lately – Scottish fishing village, ex-detective, quiet mystery with a 22-year-old secret. nothing like The Nightingale emotionally but it has that same thing where you genuinely care what happens to everyone. just came out, free on KU.
if you want something completely different and just fun, The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. four retirees solving murders. sounds light, genuinely clever.
