My favorite stories of all time are:

    • Arcane (season 1 only)
    • The Hunger Games
    • The Good Place
    • Most books in Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere, especially Mistborn era 1 and The Way of Kings
    • Undertale
    • Deltarune
    • The Underland Chronicles
    • Crazy Ex Girlfriend
    • The Death of Ivan Ilyich

I think what I like most about these are that they have made me think about morality and humanity in depth. I learned a lot from reading/watching these stories, and they often made me think for days after finishing them.

If you haven’t read the rest of the Sanderson cosmere I HIGHLY recommend.

The first book of the Red Rising series is like a space sci-fi hunger games and it’s great and very dark.

Not exactly like the media you said but books with lots of morality and humanity ideas, I would suggest The Road – Cormac McCarthy and The Mountain in the Sea – Ray Mayer.

    2. In terms of more popular contemporary lit you might enjoy The Locked Tomb series, She Who Became the Sun, The Poppy War, or Ancillary Justice, and for something more serious/older I’d definitely recommend Crime and Punishment by Dostoyevsky, it’s basically THE book about morality (and immensely enjoyable if a bit long and dense), and since it looks like you’ve already had your introduction to russian classics so you might as well delve in even deeper haha
