I (26M) have not voluntarily read a book since maybe 2012-2014. I think the last book that I read was Every Day by David Levithan. When I was even younger, I didn’t read much either. Honestly speaking, I think that the only books I read and were Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, and The Lightning Thief series by Rick Riordan. Come to think of it, I was the type of kid that would pick the Guinness Book of Records during reading time.

I feel that recently I’ve been wanting to try reading again but I have no clue what I want to read. I’m not sure what genre to look for, I’m not sure what interests me when it comes to reading.

To potentially help, I figured I could list things that I am interested in doing in real life.

For work, I am a certified automotive technician. I’ve also done web development if I can find the work. I also have history working as a sous chef for Earls. I’m trying to get out of the auto trade, potentially just being a tradesman.

For hobbies, I love to play hockey. If the opportunity presents itself, I like to play volleyball, basketball and racquet sports as well. Any sport that I can do or play with my friends, I’m usually down.

I also love to go camping, hiking and biking in the summers. Snowboarding during the winter.

I like to game when I can, but mostly just sports games like NHL, NBA, etc. but I’ll play games that my friends suggest as well.

I guess you could say I’m the type of person who’s very observant when it comes to people’s behaviours. I’ve also been depressed just due to life stuff. I’m not really sure what other information to provide to help with this.

Please feel free to ask any questions, I have close to zero knowledge when it comes to books so I guess I’m open to anything. Though I can be picky lol.

    Thank you for the help!

    1. You might enjoy Trevor Noah’s memoir Born a Crime. It’s funny and a very easy enjoyable read.

Are there any genres you don’t like?

    2. Minnesotabnb on

Beartown by Fredrik Backman. About a hockey town in Sweden. Kind of a mystery tale too.
