I used to read all the time. As a kid, the only time I wasn’t reading was when I was sleeping or playing sports. College and the early years of parenthood changed (destroyed) my reading habits, but I’m back to reading again. I need help finding more books to read.
I love books/series where I get so attached to the characters that I never want to say goodbye to them. I really felt that way about Demon Copperhead and Simon the Fiddler. I also felt that way about the Giver series. I need to know more!
Books I’ve read recently and loved:
Demon Copperhead
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
The Knocknashee series by Jean Grainger
Simon the Fiddler
The Things We Cannot Say
Before We Were Yours
Firekeeper’s Daughter
The Nightingale
The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek
The Giver Quartet
The Marsh King’s Daughter
Favorite books when I was younger:
Little House Series (I’ve reread this series countless times. I’m 40 and still read it every few years.)
The Giver (also read this so many times)

True North

I think you should give Elmore Leonard a go. He writes fast paced, mostly crime fiction which runs on snappy dialogue. His characters are charming and more than a little sleazy on average, but in a fun way.
You could also give Michael Chabon a try.
Have you read *Pride and Prejudice*?
