I was just curious how many people out there when they read a series sit down and read the entire series back to back vs. breaking it up. I am one of those folks that will read an entire series before moving on to something else just so that the previous book is fresh in my mind. What I have found is that if I break off finishing a series before the end I will a lot of time loose interest and never come back to finish it.

I generally read a series back to back
I’m a little weird, I tend to start 5 or 6 series at once. I read the first of each series, then the second, etc. But again, I’m an oddball.
I read series back-to-back. Always.
I don’t read series back-to-back. I always mix it up with different genres in between. Otherwise, I get bored and can’t finish them as fast as the previous ones, no matter how much I like the series.
It’s the same for me. I remember years ago when I read Percy Jackson & the Olympians series followed by Heroes of the Olympus. All the books back to back. I remember it being so easy to read without having to force my memory for all the details.
I try to break it up by reading one book in a series, then a non-series book, then reading the next book in the series, etc. This way the books stay fresh in my mind but I don’t get fatigued by the series.
I like to break them up, that way I know that there are good books waiting for me (unless the series nosedives). If I ever have a bad run of books, I can just go pick up the series and get me out of the slump. In one series I waited over a year to read the second one. The first book was so good I needed time to digest it before reading the second book and if the second wasn’t as good it wouldn’t ruin the first one.
Depends on the series length. Three or four, I’ll read the whole thing. If it’s a series as long as something like Discworld then I’ll have to take a break.
That said, I think I got through 17 Discworld books in a row before I needed a break.
I’ll read a book every other month. I’m currently doing this with my Percy Jackson reread.
I would bored with the series if I read the books back-to back.
It depends how long the series/books are, but I generally can’t go more than three in a row without a break.
