I’ve been trying to cut down on doomscrolling lately and get back into reading again. I used to be a huge reader growing up, especially from middle school through high school, and I had a pretty big collection across different genres. But uni got hectic, then work happened, and I just slowly stopped reading as much.

Now I’m trying to pick it up again, but I really don’t want to fall into a reading slump. I’m looking for something that’s engaging right from the start and doesn’t take forever to get into.

I’m mostly into fiction, especially horror, thrillers, and anything atmospheric. Some books I’ve really liked are The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly and World War Z by Max Brooks. Both felt really immersive and easy to get hooked on, which is exactly what I’m looking for right now.

I don’t mind classics, but they usually take a while to pick up pace, so I’d prefer to avoid those for now. I’m also not a huge fan of romance-heavy books since I tend to lose interest pretty quickly.

Feel free to recommend your favorite thriller, fiction, or just really atmospheric and gripping books that are easy to get into!!
