Heya!
I’m looking for a romance series that has similar tropes to the After series by Anna Todd. I have recently watched the films and enjoyed certain things however I did all rate the 1/2 a star.
These are not good quality films, and the source material too from what I understand is not good quality either. The relationship is framed as being straight up abusive and toxic, along with the story line being very repetitive.
However there was still something that kept me wanting to watch the next film. The things I think i liked about the story were
– college/uni setting
– Male love interest being british (sue me im english)
– Edgy Boy/Prepy Girl dynamic
– The tension and the whole will they wont they without it being too repetitive
– The conflict (preferably (obviously) without the abuse)
I’m just really looking for something to sink my teeth into that is well written and executed well. I study literature at university so I don’t get much time to read beyond my set reading and just purely for pleasure. But this also means I have high standards for the books I’m willing to dedicate my time to.
I’ve tried looking online but it just takes me to the generic spicy booktok recommendations and Colleen Hoover and Penelope Douglas really isn’t my vibe and I don’t enjoy their writing.
Any help would be beyond appreciated!!!
