Hi everyone,
I’m searching for a modern novel (slice of life-ish) that focuses on milennial couples in a relationship. I’m especially interested in stories where the couple is already together from the start (or very early on) – I'm more interested in their daily lives, challenges and the ups and downs of their relationship, and less in the "how they fell in love" part.
What I'm looking for:
- Genuinely good people having a healthy relationship and a good time with each other.
- realistic(-ish) and relatable characters – flaws are absolutely fine, but in a more grounded way-
- A realistic but also light-hearted, warm and slightly humorous story.
What I want to avoid:
- Romanticizing toxic behavior or walking red flags. If a character behaves like an asshole, there should be consequences
- Avoidable misunderstandings (that could be easily mitigated by adult communication skills) as main story driver
- Constant suffering.
I mostly read fantasy, sci-fi, or non-fiction, so I’m pretty new to this genre. I’ve checked my local bookstores, but most of what I found was either pure romance or "Read how Robert Redflag and Tanya Toxic destroy each other". I've also talked to the local staffs, but they couldn't really give me a recommendation.
Does anyone have suggestions?
