My sister is having a baby shower soon, and we've all been asked to buy the baby a book (books are requested for all ages, not just babies!) I've been looking at Penguin clothbounds/special or anniversary edition books, anything from classic kids tales to older reader fantasy. Any ideas welcome, I'd love to get something someone else probably wouldn't buy! I feel like I read so many stories as a kid I've probably forgotten alot of them! 😁💖

Winnie the Pooh: The Little Things in Life. 100 years of Winnie the Pooh celebration.
I’m listening to The Magic Faraway Tree books by Enid Blyton having read them when I was young and they’re so magical and wonderful!
Strega Nona!
The Giving Tree! I always gift this one and it goes over well.
I like to give the 3-book “My Father’s Dragon” and/or some DK baby’s first words board books
Take a look at Books of Wonder’s website. They’re a NYC bookstore specializing in kids books, and have tons of nice books and signed things-some which you can pre-order to be personalized to her.
All of the Sandra Boynton books are great. My son is currently requesting The Going to Bed Book every single bedtime
For something more niche, the Baby Scientist books (Baby Botanist, Baby Oceanographer, Baby Astronaut, Baby Paleontologist) are also very popular at our house
Watership Down, by Richard Adams
Every kid I’ve ever babysat had Pout-Pout Fish, and it was the one that was requested at bed/nap time across the board. I just took my cousin to see Hoppers and I saw they’re making a movie of Pout-Pout Fish now too 🤣🐠
Other winners are:
A Time to Keep by Tasha Tudor (my favorite as a kid)
I am a Bunny by Richard Scarry
White Rabbit’s Color Book by Alan Baker
Room on the Broom! I LOVE this book so much, it’s such a sweet and satisfying story and the illustrations are wonderful, too! I always keep a few copies on hand for baby showers/birthdays.
The Velveteen Rabbit. A set of Beatrice Potter books.
Dragons love Tacos and its sequel, Dragons love Tacos 2 are my only suggestions right now
