I have recently read both Hungerstone by Kat Dunn and Blood on her Tongue by Johanna Van Veen and both really hit the spot.
I also read The Possession of Alba Diaz as the summery sounded perfect but it ended up falling pretty flat for me.
I've been recommended The Silent Companions and the Death of Jane Lawrence, but neither sound like the exact niche I am looking for.
Any ideas?

slewfoot by brom might scratch that same itch. i read it around the same time i read blood on her tongue and hungerstone and felt like it matched the vibe.
there’s also the starving saints by caitlin starling
im not sure if our hideous progeny by c.e mcgill is technically a horror, but it felt like one to me
The Death of Jane Lawrence is set in a fantasy version of Victorian England so that might not work for you.
Victorian Psycho by Virginia Feito
Hungerstone is based on the 1872 novella Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu, in case you wanted to compare the two.
