I’m in maybe one of the biggest reading slumps of my life. I almost always have a book on me or at least one to look forward to but I find it so hard to focus on anything I read these days.
For context, I’m a mom of a toddler, 18 weeks pregnant and still nauseous and tired (although not as bad as before), a long distance caregiver to someone with Alzheimer’s, I work full time and I’m also just generally stressed with what’s going on in the US. Reading has always been an escape and joy for me but I honestly think that current events make it really hard for me to concentrate.
That being said, I’d still like to try to find something to read and get engrossed in. I like historical literary fiction, intergenerational sagas, family dramas, memoirs, thrillers/mysteries, and narrative nonfiction.
Some of my favorite books include: Homegoing, Washington Black, Pachinko, Greenwood, The Warmth of Other Suns, Educated, The Glass Castle, Beautiful Country, Solito, God of the Woods.
Thank you in advance!
