Since January my mental health has taken a real downturn and books have turned into a real escape for me so I've been going through a book every week or so and as a result I'm fast going through my collection and need new suggestions!

I have a hard time pinning down exactly what kind of things make me like a book but I think broadly, I love world building but in a day-to-day sense, like how people live and experience life in that other world. I am dyslexic though so overly wordy things are not so much my thing, for example, I read the Lord of the Rings books, but did find it a bit overly wordy and hard to follow at points.

    Some books I've loved are:

    • The His Dark Materials books by Philip Pullman
    • The Host by Stephenie Meyer
    • The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
    • The Harry Potter series by J.K Rowling
    • Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
    • The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins
    • The Red Rising Series by Pierce Brown
    • The Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas

Looking back through those books that I've listed I think possibly I also like when the main character is discovering/exploring the world at the same time as the reader is so suggestions along that line would also be appreciated!

I'm looking for books that are going to keep me occupied for a while so bonus points if the books you recommend are part of a series or are just long books!
