I don't want a self-help or informative book, but I wonder if there are any good books where a character is portrayed as having an ED. Preferably scifi/fantasy but I like all genres.

Brothers in Arms by Lois McMaster Bujold. Unfortunately, it’s also the fifth book in a series.

Would you be interested in several books like the original Star Trek with more character development?

    2. Idk if we’re allowed to suggest comics/graphic novels, but in The Umbrella Academy comics, one of the main characters (The Space Boy/Luther Hargreeves) has binge eating disorder. It mostly shows up in the second book, Dallas and a bit in the prequel, You Look Like Death.

Eating disorder aside, it’s an awesome sci-fi series that I’ve adored since I was like 13

Can’t think of any sci-fi fantasy but considering other genres:

      – Just Listen by Sarah Dessen

Might not be what you’re into but jumped to mind – it’s an old YA favourite of mine. Main character’s sister is recovering from an ED and features some background about the lead up to her getting help. Other themes in the story include sexual assault and social ostracisation if that’s a deal-breaker.

      – Acts of Desperation by Megan Nolan

Main character previously had an eating disorder which she reflects on periodically throughout the book. Main focus is on the obsessive relationship she has with her current boyfriend.

      – Boy Parts by Eliza Clark

Main character has an eating disorder but lots and lots of other problems.

      – Milk Fed by Melissa Broder

This book is centred around the relationship to food and restriction but explores lots of themes through this. The ED is much more central in this but certainly not the only focus.
