    Recently read Bad Nature, and I love it. Hester's loneliness and her denial of her issues made for an engaging read, and I'll defo be rereading it in a year.

    I don't understand the point of the radio scenes though. What they mean, why include them? I'm not American so I assume I've missed something.

      the radio bits were like this constant background noise of societal collapse while hester was dealing with her own personal breakdown. they mirrored each other in this really subtle way – the world falling apart externally while she was imploding internally. plus it gave the whole thing this claustrophobic feeling like even when she was alone there was still all this chaos seeping in through the airwaves
