I'm really enjoying S. A. Barnes' third book *Cold Eternity* right now, and I read her previous two space horrors and really liked them. I would love some suggestions for similar books.
what I like about them: I really find darker/spookier science fiction incredibly interesting and fun, even if it's not strictly horror. George R R Martin's scifi is also something I really enjoy, to give you a better idea of what I'm aiming for. As much as I enjoy Star Trek, I don't love horror involving alien lifeforms that are particularly similar to humans in behaviour, I prefer something genuinely *alien*. Bonus if it's predatory. I also love exploring capitalism in space and humans being their own villains, I don't actually need aliens.

The God Engines by John Scalzi
Humanity travels through space propelled by the imprisoned remains of what were once gods. Sometimes the gods get out and they are not happy about this.
The Last Astronaut. An object is approaching earth with behavior that suggests it might be intentionally piloted, so a crew is sent out to intercept and investigate.
You might like Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes if you haven’t already. Also Blindsight by Peter Watts is great.
The first “space horror” story that popped to mind doesn’t fit the rest of what you want but here it is anyway:
*The Cold Equations* by Tom Godwin
